With its elegantly understated styling, Facto bears all the hallmarks of a resolutely modern collection. The invisible finish – between the slats on the seat and backrest, and between the seat and the feet – is simply extraordinary. It’s the brainchild of Patrick Jouin, only the second designer to work with Fermob after the inimitable Pascal Mourgue. Jouin, who cut his teeth working under Philippe Starck, was awarded the prestigious VIA (Valorisation de l’Innovation dans l’Ameublement) Label for this innovative piece. Known for his creative thinking in the use of different techniques, his aim is always to push the boundaries and to surprise. That sensitivity is perfectly captured in this designer chair, which is both a feat of technical prowess and an unmistakable example of the designer’s work. Its parts appear to be assembled as if by magic – with show-stopping effect. The seat, with its rounded sides and unbeatable comfort, also makes a strong impression. The Facto collection is a prime example of “less is more”: the perfect embodiment of understatement and over-delivery!
